Ambassador Huso presents his credentials to President Choummaly
On September 13, Ambassador Ravic Huso presented his credentials to His Excellency Choummaly Sayasone, President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Vientiane. 

Following the presentation of credentials, Ambassador Huso and President Choummaly discussed longstanding areas of cooperation between the two countries, including recovery of missing American soldiers, eradication of opium, and removal of Vietnam War-era unexploded ordnance. 

Ambassador Huso and President Choummaly discuss areas of cooperation between Laos and the United States.
They also discussed newer areas of cooperation, including combating avian influenza and educating young people about the danger of illegal drugs. Ambassador Huso said that he will work with American companies to identify investment opportunities in aos. Ambassador Huso told President Choummaly that he has had a long association with Laos, dating back from his childhood, when he lived in Vientiane for two years. He said that he looks forward to working with officials of the Lao government to expand the bilateral relationship. President Choummaly said that his government looks forward to working closely with Ambassador Huso and conveyed his greetings to President and Mrs. Bush.

Accompanying the Ambassador were Deputy Chief of Mission Mary Grace McGeehan, First Secretary Harvey Somers, and Lt. Col. Brandt Deck, Commander of the POW/MIA Accounting Command, Detachment 3. Lao officials attending the ceremony included H.E. Soubanh Srithirath, Minister to the Presidential Palace’s Office, Vice Foreign Minister Phongsavath Boupha, and Thongphanh Syackhaphom, Director General of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
