US Embassy, USAID, and U.S. Centers for Disease Control turn over Personal Protective Equipment and Disinfection Sprayers to the Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture

On March 21, 2007 Dr. Andrew Corwin of the U.S. Embassy, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officially donated 5000 personal protective equipment packages and 100 disinfection sprayers to combat Avian Influenza to the Government of Laos on behalf of the U.S. Embassy, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and CDC, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization. The equipment is valued at $85,000 or 820 million kip. These materials are intended for National Center for Animal Health (NCAH), Department of Livestock and Fisheries, Ministry of Forestry and Agriculture. The U.S. Government appreciates the outstanding work being carried out by NCAH staff, working tirelessly to halt the spread of Avian Influenza countrywide.
