The U.S. Embassy Celebrates Independence Day

H.E. Mr. Phongsavath Boupha, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Chargé d’Affaires, Mary Grace McGeehan raise a glass in honor of the friendship between Laos and the United States.

Chargé d’Affaires Mary Grace McGeehan hosted the annual reception to commemorate America’s birthday, the Fourth of July at the Ambassador's residence in Vientiane. His Excellency Vice Foreign Minister Phongsavath Boupha joined her in a toast to the friendship between the governments and peoples of the two countries. Ms. McGeehan noted the continuing cooperation between the two nations on important issues such as counter-narcotics, the removal and abatement of unexploded ordnance, POW/MIA accounting, and combating avian influenza. Ms. McGeehan said that the Embassy is looking forward to the arrival of the new American Ambassador, Ravic Huso, in a few weeks.
