Destruction of Illicit Substances in Laos

Officials from the Lao National Commission for the Control and Supervision of Drugs prepare to destroy controlled substances

On July 4, members of the Embassy’s Narcotics Affairs Section joined representatives from the Lao National Commission for the Control and Supervision of Drugs (LCDC), the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the Government of Vientiane Province for a controlled destruction of illicit drugs. The event was one of many events held throughout Laos to commemorate the International Day Against Drugs. Among the substances burned were opium, methamphetamine, and marijuana seized within Vientiane Province during the past year.
