U.S. Department of State Office of Anticrime Programs Deputy Director Thomas Browne shakes hands with Police Major Colonel Somsay Vongkhanthao, Commander of the Savannakhet Counter Narcotics Unit (CNU)
On behalf of the U.S. Government, Department of State Office of Anticrime Programs Deputy Director Thomas Browne donated new law enforcement equipment to the Savannakhet Counter Narcotics Unit (CNU), represented by Police Major Colonel Somsay Vongkhanthao. The Embassy donated 10 sets of equipment for the CNU’s officers; each set contained a pair of binoculars, a powerful police flashlight, and a protective vest. The equipment will assist the officers to carry out their mission to arrest drug traffickers while providing a higher margin of safety when dealing with increasingly aggressive criminals. |Feb. 1, 2007|
