Arrival Ceremony, Aug. 24 on Hickam Air Force Base

HICKAM AIR FORCE BASE, HAWAII — A ceremony to honor recovered remains believed to be associated with American military members will take place on Friday, Aug. 24.

There will be a total of four transfer cases. Two of the cases are associated with the Vietnam War: one from the Lao People's Democratic Republic and one from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. There will also be two cases associated with World War II: one from Hungary and one from Austria.

A joint honor guard will memorialize the arrival of all remains at 9 a.m. at Base Operations on base.

Following the ceremony, the remains will be transported to the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command where the forensic identification process begins.
