JPAC TEAMS DEPLOY TO SOUTHEAST ASIA

Twelve JPAC teams departed Hawaii last week for missions in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to account for missing service members from the Vietnam War.

LAOS: One investigation team and four recovery teams departed JPAC on Mar. 5 to search for five Americans unaccounted-for from the Vietnam War. Teams will remain in Laos for a total of 32 days and will excavate four sites.

This is the 99th Joint Field Activity in Laos.

VIETNAM: A total of seven teams departed Hawaii on Mar. 6 and will remain in-country for 45 days. Of the seven teams, one is an investigation team, one is a research team, and five are recovery teams. The recovery teams will be excavating a total of eight sites associated with 18 unaccounted-for service members. This is the 88th Joint Field Activity in Vietnam.

Evidence gathered from all missions will be transferred to the JPAC Central Identification Laboratory for analysis.
