The American Chambers of Commerce in Southeast Asia, the U.S. Embassy, and the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service organized a business mission, co-hosted by the Lao National Chamber of Commerce, to visit Vientiane from March 11-13. The business mission attended a presentation on investing in Laos by the Committee for Planning and Investment and the Lao National Chamber of Commerce at the Lao Plaza Hotel on March 12. The mission, headed by Chuck Kathrein, CEO of Mustang Technologies, was composed of 12 U.S. companies both large and small representing multiple industry sectors. The purpose of the mission was to raise the commercial profile of Laos with the U.S. business community in Asia as well as to introduce potential commercial opportunities in Laos to American companies. Each individual company had its own objectives; some are currently doing business in Laos, and others are looking at longer-term possibilities.
The mission will lay the foundation for expanded cooperation and exchange between the Lao and U.S. business communities.
U.S. companies represented included 3M, Citibank, Green World Solutions, Lim Advisors, Monsanto, Mustang Technologies, Pacific Healthcare, Rabco, Pacific Marketing and Entertainment Group, and Schneider.
